Floral Exploration

After Spring break ended, ASU announced that courses would no longer meet in person. One of my professors gave us an assignment called the “Pandemic Experience,” where we would send each other postcards with artwork.

I made several postcards that didn’t feel quite right, then started experimenting with these tropical leaves, flowers and interesting patterns.

I created several more paintings beyond the assignment. Eventually I made them digital, allowing me to experiment even more with the patterns and composition.

I tried out some different color palettes…

and different styles of flowers and leaves…

I began to incorporate the leaves and patterns into more of my illustration work, even one with my dog Louis! I’m excited to experiment more in the future.
